DO!LAB vs. CLAASSEN & PARTNER
Die Designer Sophie Birkmayer und Tammo Claassen arbeiten seit 2005 im Auftrag namhafter Kunden aus den unterschiedlichsten Bereichen. Ihre Rolle sehen sie dabei nicht allein darin, reine Funktionen in Form zu bringen; vielmehr stellen sie ihre Arbeit in einen kulturellen Kontext. Sie greifen Impulse auf, arbeiten sie in Projekte ein und geben das Ergebnis als Ganzes wieder zurück in den Kulturkreislauf.

Das DO!LAB bedeutet für die Designer nicht nur Arbeitsplatz und Werkstatt; die Plattformidee, von der aus Neues und mit viel Kommunikation entstehen kann, reizt Sophie Birkmayer und Tammo Claassen besonders.

Kreativer Austausch, Inspiration, gedanklicher Freiraum: Das DO!LAB ist ein Ort, der unseren Bedürfnissen danach entspricht. Im DO!LAB erweckst du deine Ideen zum Leben. Du nutzt die Möglichkeiten oder lernst aktiv bei Workshops und Seminaren zu unterschiedlichsten Themenbereichen dazu.

Opening Vintage Stadl

We are very happy to announce that a few of our products have been selected by the wonderful Vintage Stadl Crew. The LES BIS ALLUMES and the Maibaum Table will be featured in this new concept sotre located in the heart of Vienna, as well as a special edition Vintage Stadl Candle edition will be showcased. we do not want to take it way, but come and see for yourself the beautifully handpicked vintage and conteporary pieces. The opening will be on Saturday March 14th from 14.00 until 18.00 o’clock. The Store is located in the courtyard of the building in Bergasse 29 1090 Vienna. There will be food, drink, music and loads of treats for the eyes!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

First of all we want to wish you a healthy and happy new year!!! We have been quite busy, too busy to update our website, so we would like to give you a little retrospect of what happened last year. We designed a few new websites, corporate idendities, invitations and our product range has grown. We now offer candle holders for our LES BOIS ALLUMES anteler beeswax candles, which where our top sellers last year. They are spreading all over the globe! The top new locations are Wonderful Archive a shop/space that can only be described as homage to curiosity and unparalleled taste at LIght and Salt in Shanghai, The Beast Shop a beautiful flower shop with a few branches in Hong Kong, Resort a new concept store with a wonderful selection in Innsbruck, Vintage Stadl a Pop up Shop in the heart of Vienna that just found a new permanent space, Hallesches Haus a full blown design store opening this spring in Berlin with carefully selected designer gifts for that special someone with discriminating tastes, hosted a special christmas market sale amognst which our LES BOIS ALLUMES anteler beeswax candles. DNA 2014

Auch dieses Jahr waren wir wieder beim DNA Kongress dabei. Das Neue Arbeiten DNA heißt so arbeiten, dass Unternehmenserfolg mit Freude verbunden wird. Leistungsorientierte Bezahlung, zeitadäquate Technologien, Unabhängigkeit von Ort und Zeit. Flexible, flache Strukturen. Vertrauen statt Kontrolle. Und ein Ambiente, das Produktivität und Kreativität fördert, offen und bereit für die neuen Generationen. DNA bietet die gleichzeitige Steigerung von Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit und Profitabilität.

Diesmal durften wir unseren Logo Entwurf nicht nur überall in der Location sehen, sondern auch auf dem Mini, welch ein Augenschmaus. wir haben auch ein anderes unseren incentives presentiert- dem Knatterboots Renntisch. Das Knatterboot verblüfft durch seinen einfachen Motor, der ohne Kolben, Ventil oder Rädchen auskommt. Vor dem 2.Weltkrieg waren die Boote, damals „Puff-Paff-Boot“ genannt, ein sehr beliebtes Spielzeug. Ein Knatterboot ist ein Metallboot mit einem Wasserimpulsantrieb, als Energiequelle dient lediglich eine Kerze. Die Boote bewegen sich für ihre Größe schnell und lautstark mit einem knatternden Geräusch fort. Wir haben für die Kongressbesucher zum entspannen-connecten einen Tisch entworfen wo jeweils 4 Leute gegen einander antreten konnten und sich austauschen, spass haben und gewinnen.

3-D SALT EXTRUDER

We also took the time at Schmiede to focus on working on an idea we das for quite a while- to create a 3-d printer using an eco friendly, biodegradable material. We believe Schmied was the perfect place to experiment with salt, which there was alot of which you can see in our previous post. We developed different mixtures, testing which paste works the best for our needs, and developed the the Mendel Max Printer further to fullfill our needs. We where really happy to actually managing and printing small objects with our salt paste in the end. Thanx to Schmiede and the great people whirling around here and there we did not give up!

SCHMIEDE HALLEIN

We finally made it to Schmiede this year, we have been keeping an eye on the Schmiede project since the very first year, but time never allowed for us to be part of it, this year we made it ; ) Schmiede is a cooperative prototyping environment, focused on the arts, hacking and entrepreneurship. Schmiede is a place where our ideas come to play, it was founded by Rüdiger Wassibauer and his brother Philip. We met for 10 days… in order to get inspired, network, create, present, collaborate and exchange. HEre are some impressions we gathered during those days

RED PLOT EROS UND THANATOS

We are very happy to announce that the icicle and the love bulbs will be shown at the Red Plot exhibition in Basel. The show will take place at the Plakatsammlung und Ausstellungsraum auf der Lyss which is part of the Schule für Gestaltung and will be featuring object from guns to sextoys, like our icicle. We will be present at the opening to give a talk about this subject.

ICONIC CHAIR WALL TATTOOS

Inspired by our experiments with light, we designed a range of Shadow Tattoos looking at the form developed by casting a shadow of a range of iconic chairs. The reason why we wanted to emphasize the shadow cast of these chairs is because shadows have a very important role in defining three-dimensional forms and their perception. The shadow cast from the chairs silhouette make them appropriate for becoming an eye-catching tattoo!  Here the Barcelona Chair, over there the Panton Chair-you can now at least get the shadow of your favorite classic chair to full-fill your iconic chair collection. The Shadow Tattoos cost a fraction of the price of the real chair and are made in Germany of Vinyl that can easily be removed again. There are 15 different chairs available in 6 different colors, each wall tattoo matches the dimension of the original chair.
