Falter

It seems to be that season again, our music trolley MSKYO got featured again in the Falter. Thank you Lisa Seidl for the nice interview. Even though Oskar did not cooperate we managed to get a nice image by Christian Wind.

Maria The.

The Maria The. floorlamp is our latest design produced in collaboration with Dotzauer Decorative Lighting Vienna. The lamp is an homage to the classical baroque light known as the maria theresia chandelier. It has glas applications on the arms to amplify the light and hide the electrical cable which creates nice reflections. The Maria The. looks like it is made entirely of glass but it but actually has a steel frame. The bare frame is merely the vehicle on which the crystal drape and pendants are located to recreate the many diverse designs of chandeliers from the simplest to the most intricate. The glass curve is freestanding and comes in a variety of color combinations. Almost like a seahorse the Maria The. light swims around in the environment providing a wide array of light. Dotzauer will present the Maria The. floorlamp and a variety of brand new models from the Maria The. series designed CLAASSEN & PARTNER.

Come visit the Dotzauer space in the designhalle d, booth 0116. The opening hours are every day from 10.00-18.00 (except 18.03. only until 17.00).

Reimagining an Austrian Estate

A mini-castle that dates to 1400, filled with contemporary décor also featuring our anteler candles called les boies allumes on page 7 & 8. We made a special verison for the photoshoot in black, it will soon be available as a special edition to the standard range. Please download the pdf catalogue 2.6 mb for more information and prices. Mr. Staudinger, 33, a freelance art consultant, now presides over the 16-room house on the family’s 593-acre estate. “ever since then,” he said, “i had a vision of how this house could be.” as he imagines it, the mini-castle will someday be an art and design destination, many of its outbuildings turned into studios and galleries. For now, it remains a family home — but one filled with contemporary art and design. Some collectors who have seen the transformation, Mr. Staudinger said, have asked him not only to consult on their art collections, but to design their living spaces. Still, he doesn’t consider himself a designer. “it’s more about curating than decorating,” he said. “i like to challenge people’s senses.”

Klein Glow Sitting Ball Performance

With the invitation of the new Gallery Slott in Paris we will be showing our performance of the Klein Glow Sitting Ball. It has been based on the previous experiment of the Klein Glow Sitting Ball performance we held at the Studio of the photographer Mischa Nawrata in Vienna. The concept of the perfomance was developed in cooperation with Maxime Grenier and Leon Milo we created a sound concept to go alongside the performance that was coreographed with Maria Donata D’Orso. The performance will be available for public viewing for a limited number of audience only, so if you would like to see it please register A.S.A.P

The “Klein Glow Sitting Ball” is a collection of six customized sitting balls. The products have been created in a live performance as a hommage to Yves Kleins anthropometry performances. Almost 50 years ago this is what happened “on a clear night in march at ten pm sharp, a crowd of one hundred people, all dressed in black tie attire, came to the galerie internationale d’art contemporain” in paris.” now with the invitation of Slott, CLAASSEN & PARTNER decided that this would be a perfect opportunity to have a revival of the “living paintbrushes”. With a performance of a model covered in bright pink paint who will be interacting with the “sitting balls”, by dissolving art into action and thus styling it into an artistic piece. since the “sitting ball” is not only a seating device, but they can also be used in different ways to interact with the body this action makes perfect sense because it also leaves a trace of the interaction with the body. the concept of the the “klein glow sitting ball” is influenced by yves klein and the conception of anthropometries, the use of “living paintbrushes”. a trace of this act has been left on the sitting balls as a permanent memory on the “klein glow sitting balls” leaving an invigorating image on the “sitting ball”. there has been a performance on the opening night, as well an edition of prints of the performance performed in Vienna, presented alongside the limited edition “klein glow sitting balls” at slott.

Bulb Fiction

The light bulb has been taken for granted; now, in its final days, we appreciate it all the more. Bulb Fiction shows radical lamp design from the late 1960s to the early 1970s from the collections of Klaus Engelhorn and Michael Turkiewicz and sets them besides contemporary light sources. The show, curated by Michael Turkiewicz and Gabriele Ruff, focuses on the light bulb both in itself and as an incorporated and essential element using applied lighting technologies within a luminaire where the design far exceeds functionality. Combination light sources demonastrate the creeping transition from the incandescent light bulb to the energy-saving bulb.

Displayed are objects of various artists such as Michael Anastassiades, Claassen & Partner, Florence Doléac, Charlotte Dumoncel d’Argence, Joel Degermark, Lonneke Gordijn/Drift, Rody Graumans, Stuart Haygarth, Tomas Hoke, Chris Kabel, mischer’traxler, NEXT architects & Aura Luz Melis, Polka, PRINZGAU/podgorschek, Tejo Remy und Marcus Tremonto.
